Designed and built by a wheelchair user specifically for wheelchair users, Melrose Wheelchairs surpass every other wheelchair on the market today. Philip Melrose stakes his name on it.
Where It All Began
After a 1991 offshore powerboat accident left Phil permanently disabled, he quickly became frustrated with the wheelchairs then on the market and set down to designing and building a Titanium wheelchair for himself. Determined to stay active with basketball, swimming and tennis, he had specific goals in mind for superior wheelchair performance. Based on his success, he soon began receiving orders to build wheelchairs for friends and acquaintances as well.
He partnered with Mike Turner who brought expertise in fabrication and welding and the rest, as they say, is history. What started out as a part-time interest in a garage has now become a thriving company designing, manufacturing and selling custom wheelchairs and other mobility products and accessories. They now have operations in New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
